Based in the heart of the pacified favela of Vidigal and inaugurated in 2013, Casa Geração is a fashion school open to young designers aged 18 to 25, free for those who are residents of favelas. Our mission is to identify talented youth through a detailed selection process and train them to succeed in the professional market, always ensuring a focus on their immense creative potential and richness of cultural references in order to create genuinely Brazilian fashion. More than just receiving, training and preparing our students, Casa Geração transforms destinies by empowering and engaging these young citizens.
The course, which accepts 20 students, lasts a year and is split into two semesters: the first semester focusses on technical theory whilst the second emphasizes practical training where the students are lectured by well known national and international professionals.
In order to reinforce the school’s focus on professional placement, above being qualified teachers our instructors are active fashion industry professionals. This not only prepares our students to face a competitive market but also allows for excellent networking opportunities and valuable exposure.
In addition to our year-long course, Casa Geração organizes and delivers creative workshops and special projects, often requested by Universities such as Estacio de Sá, PUC, IED and fashion, perfume and beauty brands. Many partnerships with fashion professionals and national and international brands are established to help develop a variety of individual and collective competencies with our studetns.
Casa Geração also participates in student exchanges with other schools and organizations such as Spectaculu with Gringo Cardia, ESMOD, Central Saint Martins and coming soon Casa Geração 93 in Paris.
2nd Semester (September to April) :
The creation of a collection for different market segments (Beachwear, Activewear, Streetwear, Accessories, Womenswear, Menswear, Sustainable Fashion)
In August, the school’s management together with the teachers will evaluate the students considering different aspects of their performance during the first semester. 15 students will be selected to have the opportunity to design and launch a group collection.
Each capsule collection will have a mentor from the Fashion industry, either national or international, who will work with the group during the whole development process from concept to marketing to production.
The final collection will be presented in April of the following year during São Paolo Fashion Week at Casa de Criadores, a showcase for upcoming designers.
1st Semester (March to August, 16 hours per week):
